Medical Coverage Is the Real Reason
Public healthcare access for foreign tourists in Turkey is not automatic, and private hospital treatment (the more likely option in resort areas) can be costly without coverage. Medical evacuation in particular is expensive enough that most travelers find it worth insuring against, even on an otherwise low-risk trip.
What All-Inclusive Doesn't Cover
An all-inclusive hotel package covers your stay, not injury, illness, cancelled flights, or lost luggage — travelers sometimes conflate "everything is included" at the resort with being financially protected for the whole trip, which it is not.
Activity-Specific Coverage
If your trip includes diving, off-road excursions, or a Cappadocia hot air balloon add-on, check that your policy covers the specific activity — standard travel insurance sometimes excludes higher-risk activities by default unless added.
Comparing Policies
Look for coverage limits on medical treatment and evacuation specifically, not just the headline price — a cheap policy with a low medical cap defeats the main purpose of buying one for this kind of trip.
Travel insurance is not legally required for Antalya, but the combination of private-hospital costs and the fact that your all-inclusive package covers none of it makes it a reasonable thing to buy for most travelers, not an optional extra.
