An eSIM (installed digitally, no physical card) can usually be activated before you even board your flight, and works on most phones from the last several years. A physical Turkish SIM (from Turkcell, Vodafone or Turk Telekom) is bought locally and can be cheaper for longer stays, but requires a shop visit and passport registration.

If you are planning day trips to Cappadocia, Pamukkale or between districts, a data plan with reasonable roaming inside Turkey matters more than raw hotel WiFi — most eSIM and local SIM plans cover this nationally, not just within Antalya province.
For most travelers, an eSIM bought and activated before departure is the least hassle; a local physical SIM is worth the shop visit only for stays of two weeks or longer where the per-day cost difference adds up.
