Flying to Antalya: what to know

Antalya is served by two airports, not one — most travelers only think of Antalya Airport (AYT), but Gazipaşa–Alanya Airport (GZP) can be the faster option if you are staying in Alanya. Picking the right one before you book can save you an hour or more of transfer time.

AYT is a major international hub with direct routes from most of Europe, Istanbul, and the Gulf, and it runs both scheduled and seasonal charter flights — capacity is highest from May to October, which is also when fares are least flexible. Booking 2-3 months ahead for peak summer dates is a reasonable rule of thumb; last-minute fares can spike sharply in July and August.

GZP is smaller, with a narrower set of routes (mainly seasonal charters from Northern Europe and Russia, plus domestic connections via Istanbul). It is not a fallback — for an Alanya stay specifically, it is usually the better airport, not just a backup.

District

Transfer time

Why

Lara

AYT

15–25 min

Closest district to AYT — Gazipaşa is not a practical option.

Konyaaltı

AYT

15–25 min

Same as Lara — right next to AYT, on the opposite side of Antalya city.

Belek

AYT

35–45 min

AYT is clearly faster; Gazipaşa would mean backtracking past Antalya city.

Side

AYT

45–60 min

Both airports are workable, but AYT usually has more flight options and similar or shorter transfer time.

Kemer

AYT

45–60 min

AYT is the only sensible choice — Kemer is on the opposite side from Gazipaşa.

Alanya

GZP

~40–45 min

Gazipaşa is dramatically closer if your flight serves it — check both airports before booking.

Kaş

Neither is close

~3 hr

Kaş sits between both airports; Gazipaşa is somewhat closer but flight options are limited.
