Bali Rice Terraces & Ubud Guide

Ubud is Bali's cultural and inland heart, built around rice terraces, temples and a well-established wellness scene.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces

The most famous and most visited rice terraces near Ubud, with a dramatic tiered landscape. Go early morning to avoid both crowds and midday heat, and expect small entrance/donation fees at various viewpoints along the walk.

Temples and culture

Ubud has several notable temples within easy reach, along with the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (bring nothing loose or valuable — the monkeys are used to grabbing bags and sunglasses) and a genuinely active traditional art and dance scene.

The Ubud pace

Ubud rewards slowing down rather than a checklist approach — a spa treatment, a quiet cafe, a yoga class and a sunset over the rice fields are as much the point as any single attraction.

Give Ubud at least 2 full days if it's part of your trip — rushing through in a single day misses what actually makes the area worthwhile.
